Here Comes Winter!
It’s a cold day in Chicago. We’ve had chilly days, but today is the first really cold day this season! I’m not a cold weather person. In fact, sometimes I’m teased that I need a sweater in August!
When winter comes I search for the little things that warm my heart.
rosy cheeks and red noses on little kids
hot chocolate
colorful wool hats
my red boots
bright blue winter skies
holiday lights on the streets (they stay up for most of the winter in Chicago!)
falling snow (yes)
coming in from the cold
a good book and a warm throw
tea in fancy cups
candlelight
A long time ago I read a book titled Searcher of Majesty. I don’t remember the author. The title has stuck with me. I think of myself as a searcher, not of majesty, but of life’s little surprises no matter what the season.
“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.” Henry David Thoreau
